Debut booklet design WIP

Another design for the choir concert on 23rd September 2007. The booklet is like an introduction to what we do, who we are, that kind of thing.

Concept:
Initially, I toyed with the idea of doing something like the banner, perhaps a whimsical line drawing or something new like a landscape illustration. Or even photo manipulation. Most of the photos suggested looked rather dark. They looked nice though. But after thinking about it, even though I wanted to do something different yet 'appropriate' or relating to the theme, I didn't want to deviate too much. I guess you can say I'm conservative.

After that talk about creating a consistent 'image' , I decided to use one of my newer designs because the whimsical style and bright colors seemed to blend in with the other designs (tickets, poster, banner). In addition, I also wanted to convey a sense of youthfulness and vibrancy that a polytechnic choir has.

I think the main difference between a polytechnic choir and junior college choir is that polytechnic students can have very diverse backgrounds. We have people from Chemical Life Sciences, Business, IT, Engineering, etc. The age range can also stretch from 17 to 25 or older. We also have guest performers from Ngee Ann Polytechnic Choir and a cappella (Linkage) as well as Xing! , which is made up of students and working adults. I suppose the theme 'mosaic' and its interpretation (almost literal) has been used many times, but each time you see 'mosaic', like Music Mosaic festival or similar themes, you get a different mix of people, which will give a different sound altogether...but at the end of the day it's just sharing what we love - music.
