Scar Tissue

Once upon a time, there lived a spotted purple moth, Lilac. Like any other moth, it was charmed by the beauty of light. Especially yellow, moon-like ones. Sometimes, when Lilac's tired of flying aimlessly in the dark, it would wish for light.

However, light was the forbidden fruit of all moths. But they were cursed with a stubborn desire for more. Some never returned; others returned as ashes in the wind.

"How could anything so beautiful kill?" Lilac thought.

Determined to prove them wrong, Lilac decided to fly to the moon.

"Help me," she cried to the graceful *Scopula Perlata caterpillars. (* a type of moth)

Slowly, they raised her as high as they could.

"No more," one warned, "otherwise your wings would tear."

"Higher!" she screeched impatiently.

Reluctantly, they pushed her higher... higher... she was almost touching the clouds.

She could see the moon now . She sighed contentedly as she bathed in its heavenly glow, which traced her "scars" gently.

"Close your eyes, child, " the Moon murmured, "you needn't to say anything."

Usual CP + markers , on A4 sketchbook paper. The colors came out a bit funny - lost some of the pale yellow and the purple is brighter than the original. Hmm.. I'm too lazy to do the background. >< Thanks to *Femaleclaws for the BG and caterpillar suggestions.

To those who asked why I've been drawing butterflies, they're actually.. deformed moths. *will practice drawing moths more often*
